A Heartwarming Scene at a Nursing Home in Jiangjin, Chongqing Despite 40°C Heat

On the morning of July 25, a public welfare team from Four Seas Bathroom visited the Central Nursing Home of Xianfeng Town, Jiangjin District, Chongqing, to show care and respect for the elderly living alone.

Amid the intense 40‑degree summer heat, the nursing home felt quiet and peaceful, with small trees and flowers decorating the courtyard. When the team arrived, the elderly residents greeted them with warm, wide smiles. Staff members handed out carefully prepared fresh fruits to every senior.

Led by the nursing home director, the team visited the seniors’ dormitories. The rooms were simple: about 30 square meters with three beds, and basic restroom facilities including a stool, a squat toilet, and a water bucket. The space had been specially tidied to welcome the visitors.

After a brief tour, the team sat down to chat with the elderly. The seniors were optimistic and talkative, sharing stories from their past lives. One elder teared up when recalling difficult years, saying he hadn’t had such a heartfelt conversation in a long time. He expressed deep gratitude and wished Four Seas Bathroom continued success.

Around 10 a.m., a donation ceremony was held. Four Seas Bathroom donated toilets and elderly-friendly bathroom products worth 100,000 RMB to improve living conditions and safety for the seniors.

Mr. Wang Shiyou, Deputy General Manager of Four Seas Bathroom, stated: “Since our founding, we have always upheld our social responsibility and stayed committed to public welfare. With the theme ‘Walking with Love, Accompanying You to Old Age’, this activity aims to call on society to care for the elderly and encourage more people to join charity efforts for seniors.”

According to Jiang Rongbo, Deputy Director of Jiangjin District Civil Affairs Bureau, there are more than 70 nursing homes in Jiangjin District housing over 3,000 elderly people. Due to limited funding, many rooms lack private restrooms and facilities are outdated, making daily routines like using the toilet difficult for seniors with limited mobility.

After leaving the nursing home, the team remained deeply moved. The optimism of the elderly was inspiring, yet it was clear that much more support was needed. For many seniors, a simple comfort such as a comfortable toilet for the elderly or a little companionship can greatly improve their quality of life.

Four Seas Bathroom hopes this public welfare activity will inspire more caring people and organizations to support elderly care initiatives, so more seniors can enjoy a safe, dignified, and happy life.

Today’s elderly are tomorrow’s us. When we grow old, may we also be greeted with kindness, care, and a listening ear.
